Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs

Supporting rangatahi into local employment, training and work-ready pathways.

Pathways into local mahi

ARTISANPANTRYLAUNCH HIRES 39

Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs supports rangatahi into employment, education, training and other positive pathways across Kāpiti Coast.

The programme is part of a nationwide network of New Zealand mayors working together to improve youth employment outcomes in local communities.

In Kāpiti Coast, the initiative is delivered through Kāpiti Coast District Council, with support from Mayor Janet Holborow, the Economic Development Kotahitanga Board, local employers and community partners.

The focus is practical: helping young people build confidence, become work ready and connect with meaningful local employment opportunities.

Support for rangatahi

If you’re aged 18–24 and receiving Jobseeker Support, Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs may be able to help you get work ready and find the right job.

Support can include:

  • work readiness skills
  • driver licensing
  • CVs and job seeking
  • interview preparation
  • interview clothing
  • access to training or short courses
  • direct employment opportunities
  • help removing barriers to work

The programme recognises that taking the first steps into work can be difficult. Support is designed to build confidence, develop practical skills and help young people move towards sustainable local employment.

Working with local employers

Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs also works with local employers to create employment and training opportunities for rangatahi across the district.

For businesses, the programme can help connect you with motivated young people who are ready to build skills and take their next step into work.

Employer support may include help with recruitment, training subsidies, personal protective equipment, short-course qualifications and licences such as forklift, Site Safe, first aid and driver licensing. By working with local employers, the programme helps build pathways that support both young people and local workforce needs.
