Supporting local business

Practical programmes, funding pathways and workforce support for Kāpiti Coast businesses.

Practical support for local businesses

Local businesses need different types of support at different times.

You may be looking for funding, training, workforce support, help with a project, or information about current programmes available to businesses across the district.

This page brings together practical support areas that can help Kāpiti Coast businesses build capability, access opportunities and connect with the right pathway.

Funding opportunities

There are a range of funding opportunities that may be relevant to Kāpiti Coast businesses, depending on the type of project, sector, business stage or outcome being supported.

Funding may relate to areas such as business capability, sustainability, events, Māori economic development, workforce development or local initiatives.

Some funding is managed locally, while other opportunities sit with regional or central government partners. Always check the current criteria, dates and application process before applying.

Skills and training support both businesses and the people working in them.

Kāpiti Coast businesses can access training, workshops, workforce initiatives and employment support designed to build capability, strengthen teams and connect local people with opportunities.

This may include business capability workshops, sector training, employment initiatives, youth pathways and connections with education or training providers.

Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs

Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs supports local employment outcomes by connecting young people and job seekers with employers, training and pathways into work.

The programme helps support rangatahi and job seekers into employment, while also helping local businesses connect with emerging talent.

Retail and town centre businesses play an important role in Kāpiti Coast’s local economy. The Retail Support and Capability Programme provides practical training, local promotion and business support to help retailers strengthen capability and stay visible.

This campaign is about encouraging locals to look closer at what is already here, support the businesses around them, and keep more local spending circulating across Kāpiti. Through Business Kāpiti, we’ll be sharing local business stories, practical support, campaign resources and opportunities for businesses to build capability through the winter months and into the season ahead.

Delivered by KCDC in partnership with the Kāpiti Business Chamber, this work brings together local promotion, business support and sector connection to help businesses stay visible, connected and ready for what’s next.
