Economic Development Kotahitanga Board

The Economic Development Kotahitanga Board (EDKB) provides independent governance and a unified strategic direction for the district’s economy.

Its role is to ensure that the Kāpiti Coast Economic Development Strategy is successfully implemented, working in close partnership with Council, iwi, business leaders, and community stakeholders.

The Board champions momentum and trust across the business ecosystem, ensuring that local priorities are met while also positioning Kāpiti within the wider Wellington Region and beyond.

Tourism is one of Kāpiti’s most visible and high-impact sectors. The EDKB established the Tourism Advisory Board to guide this work.

This group of sector leaders, operators, and business experts brings deep industry knowledge to the implementation of the Destination Management Plan. The Board works closely with iwi, Council, WellingtonNZ, and the local visitor economy to ensure that Kāpiti is well supported, promoted, and prepared for the future.

Economic Development Team

The Economic Development team at Kāpiti Coast District Council is part of the Strategy and Growth group.

The team works closely with the Economic Development Kotahitanga Board and businesses to implement the Kāpiti Coast Economic Development Strategy, all with the aim of fostering a vibrant and thriving economy in our district.
