The Kāpiti Coast Major Events Fund has opened for the 2026/27 funding year, with $180,000 available to support events that attract visitors to the district and generate economic activity across the local business community.

Major events play an important role in regional economies. They draw visitors into a district, encourage overnight stays, and create demand across accommodation, hospitality, retail and tourism experiences.

For the Kāpiti Coast, events also help showcase the distinctive character of the district — from its coastline and trails to its vibrant hospitality scene, creative community and town centres.

The Major Events Fund is designed to support events that deliver measurable economic benefits while aligning with the unique identity of the Kāpiti Coast.

Funded events are expected to attract visitors from outside the district, generate overnight stays and visitor spend, and create opportunities for local businesses to benefit from increased activity.

Events supported through the fund may highlight the Coast’s natural environment, cultural identity and creative energy, helping strengthen Kāpiti’s reputation as a destination to visit, explore and experience.

The fund supports events across a range of sectors, including sport, arts, culture and community festivals, with a focus on those that bring new audiences to the district.

For the 2026/27 funding year, events taking place between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027 are eligible to apply.

Applications close 30 March 2026, giving event organisers just under four weeks to finalise plans and submit proposals.

Event organisers considering bringing events to the Kāpiti Coast are encouraged to explore the fund and consider how their proposals can connect with the wider visitor experience across the district — from local accommodation and hospitality to attractions, trails and creative spaces.
