Tourism and Food & Beverage Clusters Partner to Launch Visit Kāpiti Itineraries

A major collaboration between Kāpiti’s Tourism and Food & Beverage clusters has led to the launch of curated itineraries through Visit Kapiti, designed to showcase the best of the region while supporting local businesses.

Kāpiti’s tourism sector is stepping up its storytelling with the launch of more than 20 curated itineraries from Visit Kāpiti.

Centred on the idea that people love discovering the why and how as much as the what, these itineraries go far beyond simple lists. They’re crafted to capture the true feeling of spending time in Kāpiti - whether it’s an adventure-filled day, a foodie trail, an arts weekend, or a nature escape. Each itinerary follows the theme “How to Spend X Days in Kāpiti if You Love Y”, seamlessly blending activities, eateries, and local gems into ready-made experiences that bring the region to life.

The itineraries are ever evolving, giving small businesses equal visibility while supporting major events. By showing visitors how to connect with the Coast, they encourage longer stays and more local spending.

"It’s about emotion as much as information," said Amberley Kennish, Tourism Manager, Kapiti Coast District Council. "We want people to feel the energy, relaxation, and connection that makes Kāpiti unforgettable."

This highly effective campaign not only encourages visitors to explore Kapiti but also drives economic growth by supporting local enterprises and strengthening the region’s tourism ecosystem through cross-sector collaboration.

Visit Kāpiti reached out to local businesses, networks and community groups to find out the top places and spaces locals would take visitors to see. By combining local knowledge with visitor statistics and data, the itineraries reflect authentic Kapiti experiences that resonate with both residents and travellers.

A total of 65 businesses from across the two clusters worked together to shape the campaign, pooling ideas, expertise, and resources. The result is a low-cost, highly effective initiative makes it easier than ever for visitors to discover Kapiti’s attractions, dining options, and hidden gems.

Cluster representatives say the project is about more than tourism – it’s about building resilience and growth. By working together, businesses are strengthening Kapiti’s economic ecosystem encouraging collaboration across sectors, and ensuring that the region remains competitive as a destination.

This initiative is all about supporting local businesses by packaging up day trips and experiences that highlight the best of the Coast. By working together, operators can reach more visitors, inspire longer stays, and strengthen Kāpiti’s visitor economy.
